Fishing the Swamp

Fished with Joe. Temperature this morning was in the lower 70's and when we quit fishing it was in the upper 80's. The wind was out of the southwest at 10 knots with a little chop on the lake. We fished in the swamp, one of my favorite places to fish. We used wiggle warts set at 30 feet back and we caught mostly walleye. Very nice walleye. There were no boats around and that made the fishing even better. We were done in short order and when we got back to the dock it took two people to pick up the cooler. Just a fun day in the swamp. Kept 12 nice walleye.

Back to Back Trips, Again

Fished with Joe. Temperature this morning was in the upper 60's and when we quit fishing it was in the upper 80's, the heat wave is starting. The wind was out of the east at 10 knots with waves about a foot. Started fishing by the E buoy and the fishing was very good. Very few short walleye today and very little junk fish. Not too much to report today. Ran bandits 50 feet back and color did not matter. Kept our 12 fish and we ended up at our favorite spot again.

The Lake Cleared up Very Nice

Fished with Joe. Temperature this morning was in the middle 60's and when we quit fishing it was in the middle 80's. The wind was out of the east very light with a little chop on the lake. The water temp is 75 degrees. Started fishing by the E buoy trolling bandits set at 50 feet back. We were catching fish, lot's of fish, but not all keeper walleye. Had to do a lot of sorting today to keep our limit and it kept us busy. The short walleye have moved in and there are a lot of them, fishing will be good for many years to come. Kept our 12 walleye and after we cleaned them we hit our favorite spot this year, the picnic table by the lake.

The Lake is Still Very Dirty

Fished with Joe and John. We each drove our own vehicles because of the the Covid thing. Temperature this morning was in the lower 50's and when we quit fishing it was in the middle 60's. The wind was out of the west around 10 knots with waves less than a foot. The water temp is 72 degrees. Fished the same location as yesterday with better results, we knew where the fish were. We set up with bandits and we were catching fish right out of the gate. There was another large mayfly hatch last night but it did not hurt the fishing at all. Kept 18 walleye and after we cleaned them we went to the picnic table at the water front and had lunch. It's very nice sitting there with a cool breeze coming off the lake.

Fishing After the Storms

Fished with Joe. Temperature this morning was in the lower 60's and when we quit fishing it was in the lower 70's. The wind was out of the northeast about 10 knots with waves around a foot. The water temp is 71 degrees. We had a big blow for a  couple of days out of the east and it tore up the lake. Lots of dirty water. There was also a large mayfly hatch last night. We had to go 3 miles the other side of the River Raisen shipping channel to find some clean water. We set up with dipsy's and spoons set at 75 feet back and bandits set at 80 feet back. The catching was slow but we were picking away at the fish. We finally found a good pod of fish so we stayed fishing in this area. Ended up with 12 walleye and 1 perch.

Problems at The Marina

Fished with Joe. Temperature this morning was in the lower 60's and when we quit fishing it was in the middle 70's. The wind was out of the east around 10 knots with waves about a foot. The water temp is 71 degrees. Have not been fishing because the hilo's are breaking down and management does not seem to care. A lot of people are getting upset over this issue. We headed out towards the S buoy and set up with bandits set at 50 and 60 feet back. The catching was pretty slow and we only had a few fish. Got a call from Daryl and they were fishing east of the E buoy catching fish so we pulled lines and headed over there. Set up and we started to catch some fish. Kept our 12 walleye and after we were done cleaning the fish we went back to the picnic table on the water and ate our lunch.

Went right to the same spot as yesterday running the same program and we had the same results. The fishing has been excellent so far this year. Kept our 12 walleye and we had two great days of fishing. When we were done cleaning the fish we went to the lake and sat on the picnic table and ate our lunch. Made for a perfect day.

Weather is Cooperating so Far This Year

Fished with Joe again. The wind was light out of the east with a little chop on the lake. Perfect fishing conditions. Today we set up by the E buoy trolling wiggle warts set 60 to 70 feet back. Caught a few more junk fish but it was not too bad. Trolled around the buoy just picking away at the fish. Starting to see a few more boats on the lake now and the marina has a little more activity. Kept our limit of walleye again today.
